Being to Malacca this time around was totally different. I’ve been there twice with 2 different bfs, (1st time was 7 years ago and the 2nd time was 5 years ago – and yes, they willing to drive for me for few hours, just to be with me for a whole day.. haha, love was crazy back in yesteryears..) and I couldn’t imagine that Malacca has great stuff to offer. Food, culture, streets and good angle view.
and no, being to Malacca town this time didn’t brought back the memories. Seeing Malacca through my Big Boi’s lenses is the best memories and experience I ever had, in fact. I paused, I stood a while, looked around.. I touched the stones and walls, I enjoyed the smell and the taste of what the streets has to offer, my face and skin burning under the hot sun.. No one rushes me, I walked with my own pace and yet no one complaining… That’s an ultimate freedom which no men, lovers could ever give.
We arrived exactly during lunch hour, my stomach growling when my friends keep talking about Ikan Asam Pedas and Cendol Gula Melaka. I didnt had my breakfast that morning, woke up late at 10am and rushed to Malacca from KL and tried to continue my sleep inside the car. Haaa..
So we stopped by at one of the restaurant by the Jonker Street, just because it wrote ‘original Cendol Gula Melaka’ and we saw a lot of customers inside. So we figured it out that this maybe one of the popular restaurant with a good food.
So, the first thing that we ordered.. was – Gulai Assam pedas Melaka, of course!
ermmm.. People said “don’t judge a book by its cover” well, in this case, please do! The taste wasn’t that great as we expected it to be. I love Asam pedas by Johorean more.
and the Cendol, wish they put more of gula melaka in it.
Still… for the sake of posing kan..
We have not explore the street, and yet this restaurant alone already offers traditional Chinese – Baba and Nyonya Melaka’s intricate in every corner, for us to embrace.
Complete with swirling iron stairs.. which I havent seen for ..few decades..and they still have it in here.
Every corner, is uniquely displayed.
Red and gold are the only colors. It is like, Gong Xi Fa Cai all year round in here.
The hall of the restaurant has an open roof, complemented by all the Feng Sui features – wood, flowing water and fire from the kitchen stoves.
Walked further in, there is an altar complete with a costume for a rent (Myr 5.00) , in case if you wanna make fun out of yourself, like what I did back in my Da Lat, Vietnam tour last month. Well, no more this time. lol
The upper floor of the restaurant is open for public viewing. Once stepped in, felt like I was in another place.
It was furnished with carves and dragons details. We can skip the visit to the museum at least.
and you can’t pose like this if you were in the museum.
Boleh buat cover album Raya Cina with this.
I was looking for Mr. Wong Fei Hong..
Okay, this picture will end the post about the little
museum err restaurant.
So we started to explore the Jonker streets, and the sun burning my skin resulting sticky armpits. Oh well, I don’t care, I came here not to date anybody.
The portraits of faded paints, cracked wall and old window panes never appeared so beautiful to me before.
There are many antique shops along the streets, I don’t bother to ask for the price of some items.. becuz in my pocket only enough for another bowl of Cendol. Yeah, the quest of original cendol gula Melaka still continues.
What a vicious creature..until being strapped down like this.
Some stalls with local delicacies
and oh.. I smelt a real good smell.. and I followed it and it brought me to this place.
It’s hot, fresh from the oven. Can’t help myself from not to take a bite of it. Close up of goodness. Don’t pay attention to my ugly non buffered nails.
and the goodness never stopped, it followed me home =)
Yeah, finally our pursuit the taste buds of happiness came to an end! Look at the peoples queuing for the same reason.
We worked as a team, 2 of us do the queue, frank went finds his beer and me went in to find a table. Fuhh. teamwork done beautifully.
I managed to get a comfortable spot for 4 of us.
Classic. and here comes he real thing. This one with durian paste y’all!!
and this one is original, Gula Melaka style. Thick , pure coconut milk with generous amount of gula Melaka. Syiok!!! It was too bad we were still full from previous restaurant. So we missed the other good foods in here. ah.
Im hungry. Imma find something in my kitchen now. This beautiful red building will end the post this time. Continue with you know what it is after this…aiyaaa.. all those historical ruins and forts ler. Boring lah.
