Diary of a Mallrat #1
Hello December! This is the month where I visit malls frequently compared to other months. This is simply because of lovely grand decorations displayed in every shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur. It has nothing to do with me associate with Christian’s celebration – Christmas, but I just love the idea every mall had, every year for their centerpiece.
And not to mention year end sales and clearance!
Yesterday Mike and I went to Mid Valley shopping mall for our dinner. I had crave for sushi so we decided to have it here. If you familiar with Sushi King in Mid Valley, you will notice that they has revamped the whole concept and table arrangement. Sushi King now following the step of Genki Sushi and goes paperless on menu. Well, Genki Sushi has ipad for their touch screen menu order but I think Sushi King will definitely will catch up soon.
December, is the month I will act like girls from ceruk kampung yang jakun dengan big shopping malls. I never posed in shopping malls like a young teenager do but in December – I’m all that I hate at.
Like, posing and put up some act with props and stuff. I know those flowers doesn’t have smell. Mengada je kan.
I don’t know what exactly is the theme of this set up. I over heard some people say it’s “Alice in Wonderland”. But I don’t see any Alice in Wonderland’s character came out during the show performance. No Cheshire Cat, no Hatter, no White Rabbit, no Queen of Heart and no Alice! So I just assume it is Garden of giant wild flowers?
Suka aku posing macam mak cik Kiah dari Bota Kiri gitu. Sampai Mike naik bosan dengan aku kena jadi kamera man.
Then, we came across this new restaurant with crazy long queue. I didn’t notice what was it but all I saw the big ‘M’ on its wall. At glance, I thought it was a some kind of jewelry shop or something like that, where (mostly women) circle a counter made from glass and pointing towards the ring, bracelet and God knows what accessory for them to try on.
My brain was on slow mode lately since I am on long break from 9 to 5 work. After hours of mallratting, they I came to realize, “hey, now I remember! That ‘M’ looks familiar! It’s Magnum!”
So I told Mike I wanted to have some ice cream. He thought I want a Baskin Robin or Haagen Daaz. I said “nah, remember the shop with lots of people waiting outside? I think that’s new one and I think I wanna check it out”
Once I stepped in I was like.. Oh My God. This is where I want to spend the rest of my life. Lucky me that Mike is crazy about chocolate and ice cream – more than I do. Usually he’s not a fan of long queue, but this time, he just got hypnotized and stand in line without blinking.
I came to know that this Cafe started its operation since September this year? And yet I didn’t know about it. I remember that I went to Mid Valley at least once a month between October until today. In fact, I’ve stayed at The Boulevard St Giles Premier for two nights in October, during the weekend for movie and shopping. Marketing department failed or I was too busy to pay attention on food?
It seems like Walls has step up its game and bring ice cream into a new level. For all I know, Baskin Robin and Haagen Daaz are a few names that comes with pricey price tag for a scoop of ice cream and now, Magnum has turn into one luxury concoction. Complete with two storey restaurant, avant garde menu and classy set up dining in.
I feel like a million dollar once I placed my order!
The displays is a metaphor for your magnum will be like. It’s Bling my ice cream!
You can go all crazy with your creativity and wants. Like, choose your own toppings for your pizza. Only now is – on your Magnum.
You can choose the coating from chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate.
and choose your blings.
This is so new for me and my brain is so slow on me so I skip on bling my Magnum process. I had trouble to decide what I am going to have for a drink every time I flip the menu and now I don’t think I want to torture Mike waiting for me to decide what I want to put on Ice cream.
So we chose to get a plated dessert instead. We chose Magnum Triple Choco Cookie Skillet. They also have Ice Cream SOUP and potato fries with chocolate dip! I’m gonna try every thing on the menu before I leave Malaysia for Mexico.
The price for plated dessert here ranging from RM 19 to RM 65
That’s Magnum on Trifle Cake or something.
I can’t help by judging on the food presentation. If it came out the same as they display in the menu, then they can shut my mouth by 99.9% already.
Yep. It’s 99% as what they display on the menu. Except the placement of the cream is a bit off.
A happy wife look.
Since I’m not that crazy on thick, rich chocolate, I let Mike have the busy looking ice cream and I go for the naked one. Surprisingly, It was crazy delicious just by having plain vanilla Magnum with that cookie dough! I am not fan of dessert, especially cake. But this, I’m totally sold out with inches grow around my waist. Esok pagi aku bangun terus check ubat kurus di Instagram.
By the time we were done indulging our dessert at 930pm, the queue seems like far from cease. Well, good luck with having late night dessert, Malaysian! So long to healthy eating habit to all of us!
